with black cotton twill lining and an interior hand embroidered antique fabric slip pocket

This incredible dress is from the 1949 collection by Claire MacCardell and its a version in a camel wool is held in The Mets permanent collection which I have also shown here

A flap pocket sits on each hip and I love how these are dropped and add to the slouchy

It is a stunning and classic little dress and is exactly what one would expect from a Valentino piece

The base is a black wool cut into a duster coat silhouette. The lines are long to just past the knee and the collar is cut high and round. The embroidery covers the entire surface of the jacket in the prettiest pastel hues that vary from a light lavender to a soft coral. Even the buttons that run down the front are embroidered. I believe the embroidery work to be machine done
