Legends of the Longhouse Colouring Book and ceremoniesLegends of the Longhouse is a reprint of the 1938 original published by Lippincott. Jesse Cornplanter (1889 1957) wrote a series of letters to Mrs. Walter Hendricks during 1936 1937 in which he told her 17 traditional Seneca stories. In the letters he cautions the reader that there are several versions of each story and his retelling is based on what he heard from his father and others from the Tonawanda Reservation. The first story explains creation
